The CW Universe

Earlier today, we shared with you the trailers for the new seasons of The CW’s DC shows. With the new seasons of your favorite superhero shows come new cast additions and changes. Thanks to a busy Comic-Con International: San Diego 2018, we have more revealed about the direction of The CW’s superhero shows going into their new seasons.

Supergirl

As you may recall, the Season 3 finale saw Kara’s friend and DEO tech wizard Winn Schott leave with the Legion of Superheroes for the 31st Century. Last month, it was revealed that actor Jeremy Jordan would only have a recurring role on Season 4. The actor share the following message with his fans on Instagram:

Actor Jesse Rath joined the show last season as the half-computer Braniac-5. He is being promoted to a series regular for Season 4.

There are also several new faces joining the show. Sam Witwer will play Agent Liberty, the ruthless head of a hate group that supports a humans-first world order. David Ajala will recur as Manchester Black, whose character in the comics has the powers of telekinesis and telepathy. April Parker Jones will be a series regular in the role of Colonel Hayley, a hardline career military woman who lives and dies by the orders of her commanding officers. Transgender activist Nicole Maines will be a series regular as Nia Nal, aka Dreamer. Nia is described as “a soulful young transgender woman with a fierce drive to protect others.” In the comics, Dreamer’s abilities include precognition, clairvoyance, and a genius-level intellect. She also suffers from narcolepsy, falling unconscious whenever she has a vision.

Finally, we have not seen the last of Lynda Carter as President Marsden. The actress tweeted Saturday that she is “delighted to be returning” next season.

The Flash

Cicada

The Season 4 finale of The Flash saw Nora Allen revealing her identity to her family. Jessica Parker Kennedy will be a series regular in Season 5, as much of the season’s story will likely revolve around trying to get her home to her rightful time. Danielle Nicolet will also be a series regular as DA Cecile Horton and mother to Joe West’s child. Hartley Sawyer was introduced last season as Ralph Dibney, aka Elongated Man. A fan favorite, he will be returning as a series regular this year.

Not returning as a series regular is actor Keiynan Lonsdale as Wally West, aka Kid Flash. He also appeared in several episodes of Legends of Tomorrow last season, and he will not be a regular on that show either. However, Lonsdale will be in the season premiere of The Flash, and the occasional appearance has not been ruled out.

Actor Chris Klein has been cast as Cicada, the season’s main villain. The character is know by his trademark lightning bolt daggers and is described as “a grizzled, blue-collar everyman whose family has been torn apart by metahumans, Cicada now seeks to exterminate the epidemic — one metahuman at a time.

Other tidbits from The Flash‘s panel include Iris finally getting her journalism storyline, a version of Harrison Wells names Sherloque, and some answers behind the origins of Killer Frost’s powers. We will also see the introduction of an LGBT character, a younger version of the Rogues, and a possible King Shark vs. Grodd battle!

Arrow

Longbow Hunters

A familiar face will be coming back to Star City the season. Actor Colton Haynes will be returning as Roy Harper.

in a series regular role. Paul Blackthorne, whose character Quentin Lance was killed in the Season 6 finale, will not be returning to the show. Actress WIlla Holland will also not be returning as Thea Queen.

Three new actors will be joining the show as the lethal Longbow  Hunters, assassins recruited by Ricardo Diaz to exact his revenge on Oliver Queen and his friends. Holly Elissa will play Red Dart, a precise and ruthless killer. Michael Jonnsson will be Kodiak, a beast of a man with brute force. Miranda Edwards will portray Silencer, a master of stealth.

With Oliver Queen in prison, he will be seeing some familiar, but far from friendly faces. While there, he will again encounter Ben Turner/Bronze Tiger (Michael Jai White), Derek Sampson (Cody Runnels), and Danny “Brick” Brickwell. (Vinnie Jones)

Legends of Tomorrow

Last season saw John Constantine aid the Legends on more than one occasion. For Season 4, actor Matt Ryan will be a series regular, helping them hunt down all the various magical and mythical creatures that they unwittingly unleashed. Actresses Courtney Ford and Jes Macallan will also be regulars as Nora Darhk and Ava Sharpe respectively.

Ramona Young

Even though Maisie Richardson-Sellers‘ Amaya left the Waverider, the actress will be a series regular as Charlie, one of the magical creatures that the Legends have to chase down. Richardson-Sellers describes her as “a rebel without a cause. She’s on her mission. She goes on a journey of self-discovery. She’s been locked up as long as she can remember.”

Ramona Young will be joining the show in a series regular role as Alaska Yu. Alaska is “a typical twenty-something easily swept up by romantic notions and fantasy novels, and she’s something of an expert in the world of the magical creatures that the Legends encounter in Season 4. In the company of the Legends, she soon learns to get her head out of the clouds to become a kickass superhero.”

Actor Tom Wilson will recur as Hank Heywood, Nate Heywood’s (Nick Zano) estranged father. Hank has served a lifetime in the military and Department of Defense, another in the long line of Heywoods to serve their country. Both charming and charismatic, he has left big shoes for his son to fill, and the worst part is the Nate can’t even tell his father that he’s a Legend!
