[SDCC 2018] ‘Doctor Who’ Is All-New In Its Latest Trailer

Doctor Who

In the upcoming season of Doctor Who, everything is all-new. Not only is there a new Doctor (Jodie Whittaker), but she has a whole new trio of companions. Their names are Graham (Bradley Walsh), Yasmin (Mandip Gill), and Ryan (Tosin Cole), and the Doctor hopes the trio will be her new best friends.

A video shared at the Doctor Who panel at Comic-Con International: San Diego 2018 shows Whittaker making her way from Cardiff (where the show is filmed) to San Diego, even encountering a fan dressed as her character.

Also shared during the panel was the most detailed teaser trailer we’ve seen yet. In it, the Doctor herself hints at things to come saying, “This is all new to me.. New faces, new worlds, new times.”

Showrunner Chris Chibnall has promised that much about the season will be brand-new. We will travel to previously unseen worlds and meet new aliens, villains, and characters. As such, Chibnall has stated that this would be an incredible jumping-in point for anyone not previously familiar with the show.

Secrecy was a topic of discussion at the panel. After being offered the role of the Doctor, Whitaker couldn’t tell anyone for several months, not even her friends and family. “But the reveal was such a massive moment. We want this show to always be a surprise to the fans every week, and that’s such a huge part of it all. So no spoilers.

Very little has been shared about what will happen this season, and that’s because Chibnall wants the fans to experience the twists and surprises as they happen. “I really love television when it’s a communal experience,” he said.
