The first Transformers film came out in 2007 and was followed by four sequels in the following ten years. While the franchise is certainly popular, many of the recent films have left film-goers tired of much of the same – robots fighting robots, and lots of explosions. Bumblebee, however, feels different.
Per IMDB, here is the film’s description –
“On the run in the year 1987, Bumblebee finds refuge in a junkyard in a small Californian beach town. Charlie, on the cusp of turning 18 and trying to find her place in the world, discovers Bumblebee, battle-scarred and broken.”
Even the first teaser trailer feels different from the other Transformers films. There’s very little fighting or explosions, instead focusing mainly on the trust building between the scared and injured Bumblebee and Charlie, the girl who finds him in a junkyard in his Volkswagen form.
If anything, we learn just how much Bumblebee has in common with us. Even he doesn’t like being Rickrolled!
Bumblebee will hit theaters this Christmas.
