When I was at the Krampus movie, there was a trailer beforehand that was even more creepy and scarier then the movie I was about to watch. I absolutely HATE doll movies and I’m not just talking the silly Annabelle movie. I’m talking about those late 70’s and 80’s horror films about possessed ventriloquist dolls. So when I seen the trailer for “The Boy” starring Lauren Cohan from the The Walking Dead TV show, I knew this would be a much better hit then Krampus was.
Greta (Cohan) is a young American woman who takes a job as a nanny in a remote English village, only to discover that the family’s 8-year-old is a life-sized doll that the parents care for just like a real boy, as a way to cope with the death of their actual son 20 years prior. After violating a list of strict rules, a series of disturbing and inexplicable events bring Greta’s worst nightmare to life, leading her to believe that the doll is actually alive.
THE BOY is a frightening, original horror-thriller directed by William Brent Bell (THE DEVIL INSIDE) starring Lauren Cohan (“The Walking Dead”). In theaters 1/22/16.
