Ian McKellen is Confirmed to Play Cogsworth in Disney’s Live Action ‘Beauty and the Beast’


Ian McKellen was never late as a wizard, nor was he ever be early and now we are sure he will be arriving precisely when he means to now that he will be playing as Cogsworth, a clock, in Disney’s live-action movie of Beauty and the Beast.

In Disney’s original animated movie, Cogsworth is beast’s bulter who stays loyal to him and his wants and needs.  Because of the curse that the witch had cast on the prince turn beast, the castle too became effected and his butler too had turned into a clock.

Other reports tell of other stars that have been announced to play a role in the movie such as Dan Stevens, Josh Gad, Emma Watson, Luke Evans and Emma Thompson.  The film’s script has been developed by Evan Spiliotopoulos and rewritten by Stephen Chbosky.  Bill Condon will be directing the live-action movie while David Hoberman, Todd Lieberman of Mandeville Films will be producing it.

Disney has recently released their live-action retelling of Cinderella and they have been announcing so many other live-action movies in production such as Mulan and Dumbo.

McKellen is known for his work as Gandalf in the Lord of the Rings series along with his roles as Magneto in various X-Men movies.  Production for Beauty and the Beast has been set to start this year while the movie will premiere on March 17, 2017.
