Since coming on to the comic scene as a joke in 1984, the heroes on a half shell have really made a name for themselves. They were originally a self-published one-issue comic intended as a parody of several early ’80s comics. The original comic was written by Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird based off of late night brainstorming sketches and then published using tax refund money and a family loan.
Thirty years later they are still going strong. They have had four animated series, one live action series, five comic lines, four mangas, a daily comic strip, and five movies. There are also more marketing franchises on their merchandise than I could count.
The latest new on the pizza-eating ninjas is that filming is supposed to be starting on their new movie next month in New York City and Buffalo. This is a great boom for everyones economies as it is estimated that there will be about $70 Million spent on the two locations.
We were originally told that filming was starting next month, well apparently we have been misled as some filming is already underway. We know this because sports journalist Arash Markazi has been tweeting about it.
And there was filming at the game. Fashion model Allessandra Ambrosio was seen kissing Will Arnett, who plays Vern Fenwick, on the cheek during filming. Vern is the Channel 6 Eywitness news cameraman who always had a thing for April O’Neil(Megan Fox.)
As for the filming itself, there isn’t a lot of details, we haven’t been given much of a a plot line except for ‘The Turtles return to save the city from a dangerous threat’, not a lot to go off of. But, we do know that a few of our favorite villain characters such as Rocksteady and Bebop will be in the film. Most of the original cast from the first film will return, along with a newcomer…..Victoria’s Secret model AlessandraAmbrosio. Director David Green will direct a script from Josh Appelbaum and Andre Nemec.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: “Half-Shell” (working title) is expected in theaters on June 3rd 2016
