PopCultHQ’s Comic Book Review:
Carlos has set out to tell a fantastic and action-packed tale here. A world of chaos and pure apocalyptic terror, with two young scrappy teens fighting in a world full of monsters. The book sells itself on that premise alone. But it’s the world Carlos has woven into existence with his words and script that make it so inviting. There is action on every page, with snappy dialogue and a heck of a plot.
Miguel’s artwork is stupendous in the debut issue. It’s vivid and detailed, broad and big. Putting pictures to his brother’s script helps bring this dark and terrible world they’ve created to life. Both the world below ground and the nightmare that is the surface world are laid out in such brilliant style. There’s not one page of art throughout this entire first issue that won’t leave readers ripe with excitement, and that is all thanks to Miguel.
For a first outing in the American comics market, Carlos and Miguel are coming out of the gate with a bang. There’s nothing like a well-scripted, well-drawn comic that is a clear labor of love to announce one’s selves to a new audience and group of readers. GIANTS is on the path to be a real gem of a series and it all starts here with issue #1.
