ReedPOP, a division of Reed Exhibitions (NYSE: RELX), has just vastly expanded their convention portfolio with the addition of MCM Comic Cons. MCM’s current portfolio includes shows across England, Ireland, Scotland and Germany.
The terms of the acquisition haven’t been disclosed, but it is estimated to be over $20 Million USD.
ReedPOP stated the deal will “take effect immediately and its impact will begin to be seen and felt on all 2018 events.” In fact, you can already see a few of MCM’s events listed on the ReedPOP website.
“ReedPOP has created an international network of shows that allow us to tap into a wealth of resources,” said Lance Fensterman, Global Head of ReedPOP. “I think our relationship with US studios, publishers, and talent provides access and familiarity with the ReedPOP brand that can result in some really interesting opportunities. It should open up the ability to build upon the amazing work that the MCM team has already done.”
This means that things could get very interesting in the convention world for the larger corporation.
