Anime Central (ACEN) is Coming to Chicago May 19-21

Anime Central is coming to the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, IL May 19th-21st and PopCultHQ.com will be there to cover it.

What is Anime Central?

Known to most regulars as ACEN, this is a celebration of  everything within Japanese pop-culture. Food, anime, music, video games….this is the largest Anime celebration in the Midwest. Last year they had over 31,000 attendees

This year’s featured guests include:

Gacharic Spin

This amazing all-girl Japanese band Gacharic Spin has performed at Anime Matsuri in Texas, at Japan Expo in France, in South Korea and also performed at Tekko in Pittsburgh.

Imeruat

IMERUAT is a music group formed by composer Masashi Hamauzu and vocalist Mina. Hamauzu is best known for his compositions for popular video games, among them Final Fantasy series

Emily Neves

EMILY NEVES a talented voice actor, ADR director, and script writer for Sentai Filmworks and FUNimation.

Alexis Tipton

Alexis Tipton whose work includes the dub voices of Merle, Kid Trunks, Haru Ichinose, Chu Chu, Hana Midorikawa, Tamazo, Honey, Kazane Aoba, Maria, Kureha Tsubaki, Rena Kariu Fukurou , and Moka Akashiya .

May’n

May’n is a talented anime singer. She was the singing voice of Sheryl Nome in animation series, Macross Frontier in 2008.

Crispin Freeman

Crispin Freeman is a voice actor, director voicing characters in animation and video games since 1997. Shows he has worked on include Hellsing, Naruto, Ghost in the Shell, The Big O, Final Fantasy: Advent Children, Wolf’s Rain, Witch Hunter Robin, Chobits, Blood+, Last Exile, Revolutionary Girl Utena, Slayers, and many more.

 

Once the main floor closes be sure to stick around for the after hours events such as the Soap Bubble on Saturday night. Performing at this year’s Soap Bubble will be DJ HEAVYGRINDER, DJ Amaya, DJ Kagamine, Jinrei, DJ Khek, and a very special surprise mystery performance as the finale “The Boss Battle”!

The Soap Bubble is the oldest, longest running and most highly anticipated anime convention party in the US. With some of the best DJs from around the world coming to spin for all 3000+ fans that pack the Hyatt Regency O’Hare’s main ballroom on Saturday night, it is not to be missed. This coming year will be no differ­ent! Expect great music, an awesome vibe, and a large crowd of the greatest fans dancing all night long into the early morning hours. This is one party worth seeing in person and you truly haven’t experienced the entire convention until you’ve been to the best anime conven­tion party in the country!
