Marvel’s ‘The Defenders’ Release Date Announced!

This morning we shared that Season 2 of Netflix series Jessica Jones has started filming in New York, and today we also have a release date for the steaming service’s series The Defenders.

A few weeks ago, we shared that filming of the series had concluded, but a release date had not been announced; but now we know that we only have to wait another four months. A viral teaser was released on Netflix’s YouTube page depicting security camera-style footage of Luke Cage, Danny Rand, Jessica Jones, and Matt Murdock recovering in an elevator. Jessica spots the camera in the corner and punches it out right as the time stamp reads 08:18:20:17, or August 18, 2017.

The footage also has an IP address in it – http://23.253.120.81 – which takes you to a website for the New York Bulletin, the fake newspaper of choice for the Netflix Marvel series. It’s full of fake articles and videos referring to the happenings of Iron Fist, Luke Cage, Daredevil, and Jessica Jones, and even features an ad for Chikara Dojo from Iron Fist. At the bottom of the page is the blurb, “Watch “Marvel’s The Defenders” All Episodes Streaming Only on Netflix August 18.”

What do you think of announcing the series’ release date? Are you all caught up on the previous Marvel series on Netflix? Let us know in the comments!
