‘The Little Mermaid’ Is Not The Story You Know

With the advancements in technology, the hot new trend in movies is to turn your favorite animated movies into live-action adaptations. Kingsway Productions and Conglomerate Media have taken on Hans Christian Andersen’s classic tale, but it’s nothing like the Disney version that you remember.

The 1989 movie is fairly faithful to the classic fairy tale, but in the trailer for this new version of The Little Mermaid, just about the only thing that seems familiar is that there is a mermaid. In this adaptation, a reporter is tasked with learning more about a mermaid at a circus along the Mississippi. We also learn that she can sometimes walk on land, her captor has her soul in a vial, and there’s a little girl who might also be a mermaid.

Here’s the trailer:

The Little Mermaid will swim into theaters sometime in summer 2017.

What do you think of the trailer? Will you be lining up to see this in theaters, or does it just make you more anxious for Disney’s live-action version? Let us know in the comments!
