Two Years Ago Today – Mar. 9

March 9, 2015 was a busy writing day for the staff at PopCultHQ with seven published articles.

This was the time when mystery boxes were making their big break and we introduced you to a Custom Fan Box that catered to your fandom, unfortunately by May they were finished.

We found out about a new series that had three elements that we loved: Legos, Animation and Star Wars. Lego Star Wars: Droid Tales was a five-episode series that started in July 2015 and ran one episode a month, ending in November 2015. It retold the story of Star Wars through the vantage point of C-3PO.

We prepared you for the ultimate Nerdgasm. Everything that nerds and geeks love was brought together in one action-packed movie, Kung Fury. This is an awesome movie that you MUST SEE! Viking, hitler, dinosaurs, machine guns, hot girls, hot cars, ninjas, cyborgs, and gods, it’s all there.

During an unfortunate series of events, a friend of Kung Fury is assassinated by the most dangerous kung fu master criminal of all time: Adolf Hitler, a.k.a Kung Führer. Kung Fury decides to travel back in time, to Nazi Germany, in order to kill Hitler and end the Nazi empire once and for all. Kung Fury is a visually spectacular action comedy that has it’s foundation in 80’s cop movies.

To continue with the fun we did coverage of Wizard World Fan Fest in Chicago, followed by some great cosplay photos.

This was also a sad day for the comic industry as this was the day we reported that comic artist Norm Lee was missing and presumed dead.

And this sad news was countered with a sweet and fitting tribute by fellow Artist Walden Wong.
