TV Land, the channel many of us non-cable subscribers frequently watch a lot of classic TV on, is stepping up their game and has ordered a 10-episode series based upon the 1988 cult classic Heathers. They have also gone out on a limb and put in a season two request as well.
This will be TV Land’s first hour-long original TV series and should be coming out sometime this fall.
The reboot will center around a new set of popular-yet-evil ‘Heathers’. Heather McNamara (Jasmine Mathews); Heather Duke (Brendan Scannell) is a male who identifies as gender-queer whose real name is Heath, and Heather Chandler (Melanie Field) has body esteem issues. Veronica (Grace Victoria Cox ) and her boyfriend J.D. (James Scully) are the new kids in town.
Original Heathers star Shannen Doherty will be guest-starring in the pilot episode and will be wearing the iconic red scrunchie her character wore in the original movie and, according to IMDB, her character name will be… Heather.
