Action Lab: Danger Zone Brings Back 80’s Action Flick Feel In ‘AMERIKARATE’ (3/1)

‘AmeriKarate’: Karate fighting for America!

Fans of 80s action movies like Commando, Gymkata, and the sensitive dance flick Footloose will LOVE Amerikarate!

Coming this March, AmeriKarate is the story of Sam, a war hero who wants to lead a normal life, but is thrust into protecting America from an evil ninja invasion. When he meets black belt CIA agent Cynthia Weaver, the sparks fly as fast as the karate kicks and the two join up to take down evil.

Creator and writer Brockton Mckinney comments: “Simply put, Amerikarate is our love letter to the legendary action movies of the ’80s. For every kid raised on comically violent VHS rentals and late-night HBO that you shouldn’t have been watching, this book is for you.”

AmeriKarate is an ongoing comic book series written & created by Brockton McKinney (Gingerdead Man) and Corey Kalman with art by Devin Roth (Bob’s Burgers, Future Worm).

Fellow creator and writer Corey Kalman adds, “Sometimes you have to karate fight for your right to fight karate for America with karate. And that’s the reason we are making AmeriKarate, a butt-kicking, face-punching, sexy, funny, bloody, explosive, martial arts ode to our favorite action movies of all time, like Bloodsport, RoboCop, Lethal Weapon, Running Man, Warriors, and Footloose!”
