‘Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ Debuts New Digital Series ‘Slingshot’

Last Tuesday night, Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. concluded the first half of its season, bringing an end to the Ghost Rider story. Since there will not be any new episodes until March 8th, the show produced a digital series entitled Slingshot focusing on the character of Elena “Yo-Yo” Rodriguez (played by Natalia Cordova-Buckley) to help tide fans over.

Elena is the focus of the series, but it also includes many other show regulars including Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg), Daisy “Quake” Johnson (Chloe Bennett), Jemma Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge), Leo Fitz (Ian De Caestecker, Jeffrey Mace (Jason O’Mara), Melinda May (Ming-Na Wen), and Mac McKenzie (Henry Simmons).

Here is the official description of the series:

Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.: Slingshot takes place shortly before the beginning of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 4. The digital series features Elena “Yo-Yo” Rodriguez, an Inhuman with the ability to move at super-speed. As a person with powers, she must sign the Sokovia Accords. However, the restrictions of the Accords are in direct conflict with a personal mission she’s desperate to fulfill, one that will test her abilities and will include tense encounters with S.H.I.E.L.D. team members.

In true Marvel fashion, there are references to the Sokovia Accords, Secretary Ross, Peggy Carter, and even a brief Stan Lee cameo.

All 6 episodes are currently available on the ABC website here.

In a flashback, we start to learn about the day Yo-Yo signed the Sokovia Accords.
But we also discover Yo-Yo is tracking a dangerous threat from her past.
