Dynamic Forces/Dynamite Entertainment Gets Hacked, Shuts Down Webstores, Notifies Customers

Dynamic Forces and its comic book imprint Dynamite Entertainment where the target of a cyberattack this past week. A notification of the situation was sent out via email Sunday morning to past and previous customers of both sites.

Dynamic Forces, known for their online store filled with exclusives and deals you cannot find anywhere else. Plus they are well-known for offering DF Exclusive sketch variant covers from superstar artist Ken Haeser.

Dynamite primarily publishes adaptations of franchises from other media, such as Army of Darkness, Battlestar Galactica, Game of Thrones, The Shadow, and many more. They also have high profile creators attached to their titles, including Kevin Smith, Alex Ross, Garth Ennis, Jae Lee, Marc Guggenheim, Greg Pak, Matt Wagner and others.

The following is from the email sent by Dynamic Forces this morning, which can also be found at both their website and that of Dynamite Entertainment.

Dear Customer,

We regret to inform you that on Wednesday, November 9, 2016, at approximately 11:00am, Dynamic Forces, Inc. was the victim of a cyberattack resulting in a potential security breach of our files. Among those files were customer names, addresses, and billing information including credit card numbers. We discovered what appeared to be a breach after a routine system check on Thursday, November 10, 2016. As a precaution, our team immediately closed our online stores and notified the proper authorities. A thorough investigation is underway by our security teams and the FBI, but our webstore remains closed until we are certain we can securely conduct business.

Customer files exposed: Names, billing and shipping address, credit card information

Date and times of the attack: November 9, 2016 8:00am to 11:00 EDT

Action taken: Webstore shutdown. IT immediately contacted the FBI, followed by the removal of all “stored” credit card information designed to ease repeat transactions. Each program and script is in the process of a security check. All passwords have been changed.
