Samurai Jack is back, but he’s going to be way darker than you remember. Genndy Tartakovsky’s scifi-themed samurai series is making its way back to TV and it looks like it may be slated for Adult Swim later this year.
The original series won four Primetime Emmys and was about a samurai who traveled through time attempting to defeat the demon Aku. The series ended in 2004, but has been a fan favorite since it debuted.
Details of the rebooted series come from the Annecy International Animated Film Festival in France, where some new concept art was debuted and we were given a brief summary for the series.
According to the panel it will be a 10-episode series that takes place 50 years after the series. It will be a much darker storyline and will focus around the toll the last five decades have had on him. I just hope we still get the same humor that was so prevalent in the first series
Special thanks go to Alexandre Loos who did such an excellent job covering the fest and getting us this valuable information.
