Circus and ‘Alf’ Star Michu Meszaros, 76, Passes Away

Mihaly ‘Michu’ Meszaros, the actor who starred as “ALF“, has passed. The 76-year old former circus star had been in a coma for over a week after he was found unresponsive at his Los Angeles home. Michu’s longtime manager, Dennis Varga, has confirmed his passing.

Born in Hungary, Meszaros joined the circus while a teenager. In the 1970s, he was noticed by, and later joined, the world-famous Ringling Bros. Barnum and Bailey Circus.

He was only 33 inches tall and had been called “the smallest man on earth,” unofficially. His size actually helped his career as he was selected to star as the alien from Melmac, Alf, in a walkaround capacity (other shots used a puppet). Meszaros donned the furry costume for four seasons. Also featured in films, Big Top Pee Wee and Look Who’s Talking are just some of the credits to his name.

The Michu Meszaros Celebrate Life Fund, a GoFundMe campaign, is live and is nearly halfway to its goal in only two days.
