Facebook has FINALLY rolled out new options when it comes to viewing posts. The social media site is releasing “Reactions” to the world. The feature isn’t so much a new tool as it is an extension of an existing one;
To access these new “reactions,” long-press—or if on a computer/laptop, hover—over the “like” button. “Like” is still available, but now offers “love,” “haha,” “wow,” “sad,” and “angry”.
These new emoji will also animate like a GIF. Hover over “Haha,” the icon rolls its head back with eyes squinted and a huge laughing smile. The “Wow,” emoji will look upward with its mouth wide open. The company has been bombarded over the years with requests at something other than a “Like” button. Design director at Facebook Geoff Teehan thinks this is the next evolutionary step in reacting to posts.
“Angry (emoji), in particular, becomes a lot more alive with eyebrows.” Teehan added, “One of the things I’ve been pitching to Facebook is to put in little vocalizations.” This apparently still needs time for R & D but it could be something incorporated real soon, “Maybe in the future.”
