PopCultHQ TV Show Review: “Dr Ken” Needs a Lifeline.

Dr Ken

Ken Jeong (CommunityThe Hangover movie series) brings his eccentric style to the small screen. Ken plays a Doctor for the first time since his Knocked Up cameo days. Jeong plays-off on his oriental humor often, on parenting skills that really suck so bad it’s hilarious and being so conceited he muse mock everybody, making Ken come off as a humorous ass-hole. Dr Ken always says all the wrong things and has the type of raunchy humor that’s not supposed to be on TV, but Jeong pulls it off. As I said, the racial humor is often played on and makes it seem very forced, as if some sort of affirmative action was placement for each episode (See what I did there). Dr Ken is not very funny and it sure as hell is no Mom, Fresh Off the Boat or Black-ish which are my raunchy comedies to watch. Tisha Campbell-Martin (House Party , MartinMy Wife and Kids) is a great cast member and has been in the business for a long time. Just too bad Dr ken wont be.

Dr Ken – abc –  comedy – 2 out of 5
