Blood & Oil
Synopsis: A couple looks to cash in on the modern-day oil boom in North Dakota and becomes involved with savvy local oil baron, Hap Briggs, and his troubled family.
This is not my type of show at all. I’m probably not the best type of person to review an evening melodrama (night time soap opera) that is set in an oil boom town in North Dakota. A young couple Billy and Cody comes into town with high hopes and dreams to start a business. Unfortunately their entire world goes upside down before they even arrive into town. On the other side of the spectrum is Mr. Briggs (Don Johnson), who is one of the richest men in the land. He has an overly reckless kid who just got cut off from daddy’s riches. The young couple now schemes and lucks their way into buying some land in their new town – since they are desperate to not fail their family and homes.
This guy Cody has no luck at all in life but he is persistent. Briggs and the young couple are now partners with each other in the oil business and the young couple are caught up in a world of greed like they have never seen before. The old man Briggs is shot and the story begins to resemble J.R. from Dallas. Backstabbing, sex, high tension drama and ridicules amounts of abc studio money tossed at Blood Oil actually impressed me more than I expected. I will personally not be watching Blood & Oil, even with all the eye candy on-screen.
