After the film surpassed $400M in the box office, it came to no surprise when Fox announced that a sequel would definitely be released for Kingsman: The Secret Service. Recently, it has been reported that plans to start filming will take place next year in April 2016.
The first movie, based on the novel, turned out to be more of a success than it was speculated. With that success, Taron Egerton’s career has landed him another role in Lionsgate’s Robin Hood: Origins which is set to shoot in February of 2016 which could conflict with Fox’s plans. Egerton is reportedly bound by contract leaving him obligated to film the Kingsman sequel.
And even then, a director has not yet been secured for movie. Matthew Vaghn is expected to come back to direct the movie, however, it has not yet been confirmed.
In an interview with Nerdist News, Mark Millar also mentioned that Vaghn was thinking about having an American agent in the next film, but also added that the idea was to have Secret Service be a global thing.
Kingsman 2 is said to be released in June of 2017.
