NBC’s Constantine is a show that many of us miss. We mourned the loss of it because it was never given a chance. Constantine had a lot of potential to be a fantastic later evening, super-hero, sci-fi show. It could have given supernatural a run for it’s money if it had stayed true to the comic and continued in the dark vein it was intended.
Unfortunately it was played around with and shuffled which eventually led to its untimely death due to that hated figure called ratings. There were originally discussions about it crossing over with other DC shows such as Arrow, but due to its cancellation that never happened.
At last week’s San Diego Comic-Con, we were given a glimmer of hope by Arrow‘s executive producer Wendy Mericle who told IGN that there were still talks about using Constantine in a future season. “Yeah, we really want to do it. It’s something we’ve been talking to DC about and it’s just a question of some political things, but also the actor’s schedule. We’re trying to work it out, but we don’t know 100% if it’s going to happen.”
Stephen Amell then backed up her statement by stating, “Fingers crossed.”
The fact that Mericle used the words “…but also the actor’s schedule” that leads to believe that they have plans to bring actor Matt Ryan back as John Constantine. Season four of Arrow already has some extensive plans to delve further into Magic and the Lazarus pit, so it would be the perfect opening to introduce someone who is familiar with the world or magic and the dark arts.
Arrow returns on Wednesday, October 7 at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
