FUNimation Entertainment: One of the leading anime distributors has officially acquired the Japanese movie rights for the two live-action versions of the “Attack on Titan” films being directed by Shinji Higuchi. The mega popular “Attack on Titan” franchise is looking to invade main-land America thanks to FUNimation Entertainment. The manga series – turned anime series – now live-action movie – will come into theaters, home entertainment, video on demand and broadcast in North America THIS FALL!!
A special SDCC premiere is planned to be in Los Angeles, at the Egyptian Theater on Tuesday, July 14. This is a huge surprise since that is actually ahead of the highly anticipated Aug. 1 release in Japan!!
Director Shinji Higuchi and special guests – Haruma Miura and Kiko Mizuhara, who play fan favorites Eren and Mikasa in the movie will also be attendance for the U.S. premier. This is only SDCC special premiere to promote the August 1 release of part 1 of the film in Japan.
The film, which was worked on by Attack on Titan creator Hajime Isayama, will be released by Toho Co. Ltd. in two parts in Japan. The first film “Attack on Titan” will debut in Japan on August 1st, with the second film “Attack on Titan: End of the World,” on September 19, 2015.
