Kick-Ass Prequel and Sequel In The Works! Director Matthew Vaughn Isn’t Done Yet!

Matthew Vaughn (Kick-Ass 1 & 2, Kingsmen: The Secret Service, Fantastic Four) has stated that he is “not happily done with the franchise.”  Responding to fans’ queries, Vaughn wants to do a Kick-Ass 3, but feels that a prequel needs to be put out first.  The prequel will focus on Kick-Ass 1’s surprise sensations Hit Girl (Chloe Grace Moretz) and Big Daddy (Nicolas Cage).  Vaughn knows a prequel is necessary to win back fans after the poor showing of Kick-Ass 2.  He explains,

We’re working on an idea for a prequel of how did Hit Girl and Big Daddy become Hit Girl and Big Daddy.  If we make that, hopefully that will be the sorbet for the people that didn’t like Kick-Ass 2, and then we can go off and make Kick-Ass 3. I think we’ve got to do this prequel to regain the love that we had with Kick-Ass.

Given that Moretz is already in her late teens, production needs to get a move on in order for the actress to reprise her role.  But with the announcement that Matthew Vaughn will return to direct Kingsmen 2, that could postpone Kick-Ass plans a couple of more years, which essentially require a younger actress for the film  Here’s a look back at the original Kick-Ass trailer:
