Eighteen years after I picked up my very first copy of Final Fantasy VII, and who knows how many times I’ve bought it over and over again, I will have to do it again. For Square Enix and Sony announced last night at E3 2015 they’re remaking Final Fantasy VII for PlayStation 4. Rumored, other consoles will follow once the success of the PS4 version shows that it’s worth doing so.
Development of the Final Fantasy VII Remake (as it’s being called so far) will be led by key members of the original game, including producer Yoshinori Kitase, director Tetsuya Nomura and scenario writer Kazushige Nojima. This is pretty awesome news for long time FF fans, RPG fans and those yet to know what Final Fantasy VII can deliver in countless hours of gaming role play!
Final Fantasy VII was released in 1997, to huge critic acclaim and commercial success. By selling more than 11 million copies worldwide FFVII is often credited with popularizing the Japanese RPG videogame style in the global market.
