In this day in age, video certainly did kill the radio star.  Okay, kind of…  This week’s Throwback Thursday Track is (if you haven’t guessed it already) Video Killed the Radio Star by Buggles!

Buggles was known as a British band consisting of Trevor Horn and Geoff Downes.  Their song Video Killed the Radio Star was arguably their best single which hit No. 1 on many singles charts.  The song was first debuted on MTV (when MTV was still actually playing music videos) and the single was released on their album The Age of Plastic.

Downes explained that the name of the group was a play on words, or rather a puny joke spinning off of the popular band The Beatles.  Hil-lar-i-ous!
