Another acting legend has passed away. Sir Christopher Lee passed away on Sunday, June 7th at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in London after being hospitalized for respiratory problems and heart failure. The news comes several days after his passing because his wife of over 50 years, Gitte Lee wished to inform family before it became public.
The veteran actor is most recently known for his roles in Lord of the Rings as Saruman and the Star Wars prequel trilogy as Count Dooku. He has a long and prosperous career as an actor, voice actor and musician.His first movie was the 1948 gothic romance Corridor of Mirrors , after that he had a variety of small roles both credited and uncredited. His break came in 1957 when he landed the starring role of The Creature in Frankenstein. From there his acting carreer took off including the role of Count Dracula in several Hammer Horror Films and Francisco Scaramanga in The Man with the Golden Gun.Christopher Lee was a celebrated individual. He was knighted in 2009 for his services to drama and charity, received the BAFTA Fellowship in 2011 and received the BFI Fellowship in 2013.
When asked what he felt was his best performance he felt that is was as Muhammad Ali Jinnah, Pakistan’s founder in the 1998 film Jinnah. He felt that his best film was the 1973 horror The Wicker Man, where he played Lord Summerisle.
