“Fuller House”, the updated sequel to the original American TV sitcom classic “Full House,” has some good and not so good news for their long-time fans.
John Stamos, the main driving force and producer of the new Fuller House show on NETFLIX, had reacted to the news on social media, saying he’s
“heartbroken” that Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen are opting out of the project. Adding
“I understand they’re in a different place and I wish them the best,” as Stamos tweeted.
I think this was pretty much expected when most of the original cast had signed onto the remake show without even telling the Olsen Twins of the plans to begin with. As producer Stamos most likely knew that even thinking about adding the twins would have rocketed production cost through the roof. I think it’s kind of sad that the Olsen twins could have helped this show out the way the show made stars out of the little girls themselves. Also “Michelle” was such a young child in the original series that replacing her will not be such an issue anyway. The Olsen twins would have been only beneficial for name credits but as acting purposes go, having two actresses playing one older role is not such a “cute” notion anymore.
On to the good news! Another member of the original extended Tanner family has signed on for “Fuller House.”
Lori Loughlin revealed on “Good Morning America” that her character, Aunt Becky, will officially be a part of Netflix’s “Full House” reboot.
“I’m very excited,” Loughlin said. “It’s going to be really great to be back with the whole cast. It’ll be a lot of fun.”
Lori Loughlin was asked about the Olsen twins not joining the rest of the returning cast because the twins felt they had other projects that were more important. This is what Lori had to tell GMA about that…
“We would’ve loved it [if they had returned], but I understand.”
More good news for the, Full House fans: The head of the Tanner family will also return for the spin-off. Stamos and Saget had some fun on Twitter with one another after the announcement had been made…
“Last but not least-best piece of casting yet. The great @bobsaget will be joining our show on @netfilx – this completes the perfect reunon!” John Stamos tweeted overnight (later joking of his spelling mistake, “sorry i’m tired – been a long day – and let’s not be so picky – you want perfect spelling – follow Oprah”).
“How did you get this information?” Saget replied. “Kidding! Love you Jesse!”
Saget was the final main cast member from the ’90s hit sitcom to confirm an appearance on Fuller House, which debuts on Netflix next year. Candace Cameron Bure, Jodie Sweetin and Andrea Barber will star, and John Stamos, Dave Coulier, Lori Loughlin and now Saget will all make guest appearances.
