Then just last month it was reported that David Lynch was no longer attached to the show because Showtime wasn’t offering him enough money. Despite Showtime’s reassurance that the show would go on, it seemed that once David walked, most of the other cast were hesitant to continue with the show as well. So, most of us fans were convinced the show was dead.
Apparently somebody (most likely Showtime) gave in because David Lynch is once again attached to the Showtime production as he announced earlier today in a tweet. Not only is Lynch and Gwin Peaks coming back, it looks like there are more than just the previously announced nine episodes!!
The announcement was confirmed by Showtime President David Nevins, “This damn fine cup of coffee from Mark and David tastes more delicious than ever….Totally worth the extra brewing time and the cup is even bigger than we expected. David will direct the whole thing which will total more than the originally announced nine hours. Preproduction starts now!!”
After twenty years off the air Twin Peaks was regarded one of the best TV shows ever with an abrupt end after only two seasons. The series will bring back Kyle Maclachlan (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. villain) as Special Agent Dale Cooper. The over the top eccentric FBI agent who followed a baffling case to a strange small town which gave him way more mystery than he bargained for.
So definitely sounds like good news for fans of the quirky show.
