As we recently reported, Lucasfilm and Disney plan on a standalone Star Wars film.  Rogue One will be the story of the rebels mission at stealing the blueprints for the Death Star.  This places the film between Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith and Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope.  News today of the plan for a second standalone anthology in the franchise… this one focusing on bounty hunters!  A solo movie spotlighting Boba Fett, a fan favorite in the films, is next in line to be released.

So, do you love you some Fett?  How much do you know about him?  Here’s a brief bio on him, courtesy of

Boba Fett was a Mandalorian warrior and bounty hunter. He was the only unaltered clone of the famed Jango Fett, created in 32 BBY as unit A0050, one of the first of many Fett replicas designed to become part of the Grand Army of the Republic, and was raised as Jango’s son. Jango taught Boba much, training him to become a skilled bounty hunter as was his father-figure before him. In 22 BBY, Jango was killed at the Battle of Geonosis, which opened the Clone Wars. Just a boy, Boba was forced to grow up and took to traveling the galaxy. Later, he became a bounty hunter and took assignments from beings such as Jabba the Hutt, and achieved notoriety despite his young age.

Personally, I never thought this type of film were to be made.  I have always hoped for something like this.  From the moment in The Empire Strikes Back when all of the bounty hunters are aboard Darth Vader’s Imperial Cruiser, I wanted to know more about these shady individuals.  Hopefully the movie has at least one or two of the other bounty hunters featured in Episode V: Dengar, IG-88, Bossk, 4-LOM, or Zuckuss.  I am very excited to see how he became such the notorious bounty hunter.

No date has been confirmed as to its release.  Rogue One, which starts production this summer, is set for a December 2016 release.
