The surprise hit Kingsman: The Secret Service has officially been given the green light to produce a sequel to the spy thriller. The film, which just surpassed $400M at the box office, stars Colin Firth, Samuel L. Jackson, Michael Caine, Mark Strong and Taron Egerton. Based off Mark Millar‘s graphic novel The Secret Service, and directed by Matthew Vaughn (Fantastic Four, Kick Ass), it tells the story of a secret spy agency that seeks out and hires a naive but promising kid from the streets into the independent, intelligence organization’s intense training program just as a worldwide threat arises by a demented tech genius.
It is unclear as to whether or not Vaughn will return to direct the follow-up film because he is slated to shoot the reboot of Flash Gordon. Also, Millar only wrote the one graphic novel so it’s up in the air what we may see for a plot and storyline of this new movie.
Kingsman: The Secret Service will be available on DVD and Blu-Ray on June 9, 2015.
