What a total bummer! Shocked hearing it from Guillermo del Toro and Norman Reedus, but now that Konami has confirmed it, the realness of Silent Hills‘ cancellation is starting to sink in.
Matt Hackney quoted Guillermo del Toro and Reedus echoed one another in their disappointment of the cancellation over Twitter. We waited for confirmation from the publishers themselves and they finally announced Monday morning that the highly anticipated game was no longer a project.

Polygon received a statement from the publishers,
“Konami is committed to new Silent Hill titles, however the embryonic Silent Hills project developed with Guillermo del Toro and featuring the likeness of Norman Reedus will not be continued.”
The most recent game in the Silent Hill franchise was a released “Playable Teaser,” also known as Silent Hills P.T., which was made free for download on the PlayStation 4. Guillermo del Toro had been co-directing the game with Hideo Kojima while Reedus was lending his likeness to the protagonist in the game.
Like Reedus, we too can only hope for the project to be revisted.
