Now that you are all finished groaning about the third Spider-Man reboot, lets get down to some of the bare facts that we know about it and maybe you’ll decide that this one might be worth watching.
First off, Spidey is now back where he belongs with Marvel and he will now officially become part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Marvel hasn’t done too bad with the characters they have, so now that he is home, we can expect them to follow the patterns they have already set with their other characters.
There will NOT be yet another origin story, we know his story way too well and the last thing any fans want to see is another origin story. This was confirmed by the President of Marvel Studios, Kevin Feige.Feige has put to bed the rumor about this being one of the alternative Spidey’s, he has confirmed that will be Peter Parker donning the mask and not his successor, Miles Morales.
Marvel wants to remove themselves from the other movies so they are going somewhere that the other movies never truly did…. to high school. Carve Online spoke with Feige and he stated, “…we want to reveal it in different ways and spend much more time focusing on this young high school kid in the MCU dealing with his powers.” They are looking at casting for a 16-year-old character, with actors that are the right age, so not only does he have to deal with criminals, but also puberty, and the trials of high school. That has led to some great storylines previously, lets see if they do this right.
During the interview Feige also stated, “… he is very, very funny and very, very witty when he’s in that costume, swinging around, not as a standup comedian, obviously, but as almost his nervous energy, bothering the criminals with banter as much as with his powers. That’s something that I think we’re excited to explore.”
Does this mean we are going to have more of the sharp-witted banter we love from Spidey? Perhaps they are going to explore a little more towards some of the cartoons that we enjoy? I think I will enjoy this Spider-Man significantly more than the last few.
Another interesting thing said by Feige makes me wonder if we should be paying more attention to the background, news articles and comments from background characters, “There is a young kid [already] running around New York City in a homemade version of the Spider-Man costume in the MCU, you just don’t know it yet.”
