Arriving later this year will be a new Blu-Ray edition of X-Men: Days of Future Past entitled “Rogue Cut” which adds a subplot originally cut from the film. Yesterday, the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) announced via their website that this new edition will run an additional 11 minutes and 11 seconds. Upon hearing this, director Bryan Singer took to Twitter for clarification:
X-Men: DoFP was the most successful of the X-Men films taking in nearly $750 million dollars. This would be an opportune time to release this version. Fans were stunned upon hearing all of Rogue’s scenes were being cut. She is a popular character with a large fan base. In addition, Fox Studios could use this opportunity to add a trailer for the upcoming Fantastic Four film. They could also throw in another X-Men: Apocalypse teaser at the end credits. Just more ways they can increase the likelihood of customers rushing out to buy this new version.
