A 6-issue miniseries will be debuting this July in a partnership with DC Comics and IDW Publishing. Star Trek/Green Lantern: The Spectrum War will be the latest crossover event for these two companies; the last being in 2011 when the crew of the Enterprise joined with the Legion of Superheroes.
As announced today at WonderCon 2015 in Anaheim, CA, we got some insight into this crossover that is certain to be quite the event. The official premise is as follows…
“Set in Star Trek’s 23rd Century, the balance of the universe will be tested when the Green Lantern Corps’ Power Rings come into the possession of certain Star Trek characters while a dark and powerful evil looms around every corner. Only the combined power of the Green Lantern Corps and the Federation stand any chance of stopping those who worship evil’s might.”
Writer Mike Johnson, most recently known for his work on the New 52’s Supergirl and Earth 2: World’s End, will be heading up the story involving the entire Green Lantern Corps and the current Star Trek franchise characters. A number of artists are lined up including Gabriel Rodriguez, Francesco Francavilla, Angel Hernández, Marc Laming, Declan Shalvey, Garry Brown and Elsa Charretier. Greg Goldstein, President and COO of IDW Publishing stated in a press release, “We’ve looked forward to bringing these two iconic universes together for a long time. Star Trek and Green Lantern both share so many of the same science-fiction adventure themes and ideals, that a galaxy-spanning crossover like this is simply… logical.”
