The person on the video claims to be from the Anonymous hactivist group and they are targeting Kanye for a variety of crimes. They state that he is “ a spoiled child in a grown man’s body … ready to set off a boiling temper tantrum the very moment you don’t get all the things you want.”
The video also went on to claim that Kanye West’s wife, Kim Kardashian, was “sacrificing morality for extra income.”
If you wish to see it:
Frankly I think most of us agree with almost all of the video, though I personally wonder about what morals a Kardashian had to begin with.
Yes the video was produced and distributed by an anonymous person, but that anonymous person is not the Anonymous Hacktivist group and doubt they are even truly part of it.
Why I Don’t Believe Anonymous Targeted Kanye
- The first thing I thought when I heard about the video was ‘why?’ Why would a well established hackivist group such as Anonymous go after small change like Kanye West? There is so much more that they can and are doing. They are tracking ISIS, they have revealed hackers, they have exposed rapists.Kanye is a nobody, he has no political power, he’s not part of a terrorist organization, he’s not actually stealing money, and he is not causing any physical harm. He is someone that seems to attract others, which yes, potentially gives him power, but he does nothing with that potential power. Kanye West is a candle blowing hot and bright at the moment, but in five years no one will know his name. He will not leave much, if any mark on this world. Over all Kanye West is just not worth the effort for Anonymous. They have bigger fish to fry.
- The video quality and style isn’t the same. I am not a video expert by any means, but the video itself screams copycat. It doesn’t have the same feeling or quality that the other Anonymous videos did. It also doesn’t actually say anything, it just warns Kanye that he is being watched.
- Finally, the fact that Anonymous themselves were not claiming ownership of it. In fact after a few days they posted about it on their Twitter account and said they wanted to be kept out of it. There is also the Anonymous website itself where someone did an article on the Kanye West Video and they stated, “AnonHQ is not affiliated in any way with the creator nor content of this video, although some points make sense.”
Come on folks, Anonymous is too busy waging a war with ISIS to bother with a gnat like Kanye West. This is a war that we should all be watching closely because they seem to be a lot more effective than any of the governments and are actually doing something. In fact they just released a list of over 9,000 twitter accounts they believe to be associated with ISIS.
