Tim Burton Teams Up With Disney and Will Direct Live Action Version of ‘Dumbo’

Disney is on a roll announcing live action movies in the works such as Cinderella and Beauty and the Beast.  It now has been confirmed by Mashable that Tim Burton is now turning his “big eye” (see what I did there?) sights on a pair of big ears, Dumbo to be specific.

Burton, although set to direct the film, is committed to two other projects, Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children being one of them.  Reportedly, he will be working on Beetlejuice 2, but there is no word on whether or not that will be released before Dumbo.

Disney is well on its way of releasing a series of live action movies.  Cinderella comes out this Friday while Alice: Through the Looking Glass and The Jungle Book will be released next year in 2016.  The highly anticipated Beauty and the Beast starring Emma Watson won’t be released until 2017.

While it has been confirmed that Burton is in fact involved with the development of Dumbo, we can’t help but wonder how well Dumbo will translate into a live action movie.  Burton is known to put his own twist on movies which have been dubbed “Burtonesque” and according to The Journal, the story will be pulled into a broader spectrum.

Are you excited to see Dumbo come to life?  Does it make it more appealing knowing that the acclaimed Tim Burton will be adding his director’s expertise to the movie?  Let us know what you think in the comments below!
